At Simply Stride we apply effective yoga, pilates and mindfulness techniques and ideas to something we do every day. Walking!
Stress, illness, physical and mental habits can restrict our mobility, our well-being, even our happiness. We often put up with discomfort and pain because that’s ‘just the way things are’.
Our walking technique is a unique, very flexible, often life-changing walking course that has all kinds of physical and emotional benefits. We are gentle with you – but it’s no walk in the park! We spend time carefully gauging your level of ability and identifying your personal ambitions (and hurdles) then we help and support you on your journey to achieve them!
As we see it, everyone has the potential to experience ‘Mindful Living’. This is about increasing your self-awareness and realising that the way you use your body for walking, standing, sitting, even sleeping can cause stress, tension and pain.
You begin to use the Stride technique to support, move and nourish your body during daily activities so that, eventually, it all becomes second nature. Your body becomes stronger and fitter and you feel more confident, healthy and happy. You’re learning to be free of bad habits, restoring co-ordination and ease of movement. And you’re enjoying a better life because of it.
By improving your posture, we can provide a good foundation that will help your body to move more fluidly. In the very first session you’ll learn how to stabilise yourself properly and create a good foundation for movement.
While Yoga and Pilates have been around for years, our unique combination of techniques are proving to reduce aches and pains. Importantly, we’ve been instrumental in helping our members recover from illness or cope with an ongoing condition.
Our easy body tailoring exercises start to make you stronger. Your body shape improves and clothes seem to fit that little bit easier. An unexpected benefit for many of our clients!
Many of our members suffered from a lack of confidence before they joined us. Sometimes it’s a huge step just to pick up the phone. But that’s ok. We’ll help you grow in confidence, so that you can feel great about yourself again and what you can achieve. Over time, you’ll feel less restricted and more ‘free’, striding with your head held high.
It’s a chance to escape from daily stresses as you stride outdoors in the fresh air. It’s about creating a positive connection with yourself, your body and the world around you. Trust us when we say it feels great.
You feel in control as you move at your own ability. We don’t believe in elite training or gimmicks. Our members love the fact that the sessions become really familiar, they know what to expect and can achieve their own goals according to their ability.
It’s sociable. Lots of our members say Simply Stride is like having a little ‘bolthole’, something just for them. Managing pain and increasing fitness is a great leveller, so whatever your background you’ll find some great common ground and, chances are, make some new friends.
You don’t have to worry about finding time for the gym or high impact classes. There’s an enormous amount of guilt attached to traditional ‘keep fit’ – not going enough, not doing enough. With Stride however, you can use the techniques as often as you like for really efficient training.
It’s really flexible with no membership fee or fixed course dates. It’s your diary and your time, so we want things to be as convenient as possible.
